Beach vacations are a dream for a lot of people. In fact, the beach is the best bet for most travelers, with 74% of respondents saying they prefer to spend their vacations on the coast. If you're ready to start planning your dream beach vacation, then it's time to stop daydreaming about your dream vacation. Start planning and try some of these travel tips to make it great.

Consider beach house rentals

Hotels aren't the only option while you're traveling, and they aren't always the best option either. Instead of a hotel, think about a beach house rental or even a condo rental, especially if you have a large group. They are often less expensive than a hotel for an extended period of time, and they usually have a kitchen so you don't have to eat out for every meal. Finally, beach house rentals offer more privacy and flexibility for renters on vacation compared to hotels.

Create a budget

First things first, you need to figure out what your budget is going to be for your dream vacation. The two most important parts of your budget will be lodging and transportation. That's why it's important to start by securing the right beach house rentals, which will account for the biggest chunk of your travel budget. Once you've subtracted the cost of your housing rental, you can start planning for transportation.

Make sure you take into account all transportation expenses, including airfare or train tickets, gas for your car or rental car fees, and public transportation costs once you get to your dream destination. You also need to take into account all those miscellaneous items like souvenir shopping, dining out, entrance fees, attractions, and more.

Avoid peak travel times

If you're trying to save some money, then consider traveling during the beginning or the end of the busy season. Major holidays and weekends are busy times for most beach communities. Most popular beach towns will be packed between Memorial Day and Labor Day. If you travel outside those dates, like in April or September, you avoid the crowds at the beach and you avoid paying more for vacation rentals because there are more available during the offseason.

Research activities before you go

You probably have some activities in mind for your beach vacation, and it pays to organize everything in advance. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions, plan the rest of your day around your excursion times, and even pay in advance so you don't have to worry about bringing your wallet to the beach.

Beach vacations are dreamy, but they don't get that way on their own. Make sure you try out these travel times to make your beach vacation a perfect one.
